victory for minimum wage earners here in san jose. let's talk about measure "d." that's the minimum wage measure in san s leading with the majority of precincts reporting. with the presumed passage of measure d, the hourly rate will go up $2 an hour from the state rate of $8 to $10 an hour. those for measure d argue this was a moral necessity given how expensive it is to live in silicon valley. others say it will hurt the market as higher wages force companies to cut back on hiring. measure e. that's the measure. around 60% have said no. measure e would have allowed san jose's two card rooms to add more gaming tables resulting in more tax revenue for the city. proponents saying as much as $5 million more a year for things like plisholice, fire and libra. opponents argue card rooms would have added more crime. coming up, reaction from mayor chuck read not only about those two measures but about council woman rose herrera winning last night. that story coming up. meantime, reporting live here in san jose, bob rodell "today in the bay." >>> let's get the weather out there. the reality of fa

at the airports in oakland and san jose. a lot of people heading back home after the thanksgiving holiday. you should call ahead, though, if you are heading to the airport this morning. >>> 7:03. well a carbon monoxide scare in san francisco sense more than a dozen people to the hospital and -- sent more than a dozen people to the hospital and there's still a search of where it came from. ktvu's alex savidge is in san francisco. you've been on the story since 4:30. investigators are having a hard time finding answers. >> reporter: it's certainly been a challenge to figure out what made this family sick last night. a pg&e spokeswoman told me this morning that they had one of their representatives here at their house until late in the evening last night, trying to fick out a cause for the leak -- figure out a cause for the leak. he tested the unit upstairs and downstairs. and he didn't get any carbon monoxide readings in either case. firefighters came out here about 7:00 last night on cortland street in the bernal heights neighborhood in san francisco. a total of 14 people had to be transported

in san jose with more on both of the measures named "a." bob, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, marla. voters dropping off ballots in thing south bay must not only consider a sales tax increase on the state level, of course, i'm referring to 30 and 38, but also on the county level as well. if measure "a" is passed in santa clara county, it would raise sales tax to 8.5% for ten years. tying it for the third highest sales tax in the state. it would raise about $50 million annually. this would help restore services that have been cut in recent years like police and public safety and health care coverage and housing for people living on the streets. >> i voted in favor of the tax. i thought it was a small price to pay. it seemed like the purpose of the tax and where the money would go would be a good thing for the community. >> i say it is difficult to pay extra taxes. >> i think it's needed. i'm prepared to do my part. it's like dues paying members of a community. you want to see something happen. you pay your dues. >> reporter: i'm sure you recognize congress member mike honda. h

in san jose, outside mayor chuck reed's house with the result of the races and some reaction from the mayor himself. >> reporter: good morning. let's first go over those numbers. incumbent district eight council woman rose herrera did beat out challenger jimmy nguyen. she took over 50% of the vote. mayor chuck reed of san jose's with us this morning. she's considered an ally of yours, fiscal reform. what message are you taking from this? >> it's certainly a big win for fiscal reforms. because governor employee unions launched an all-out attack. trying to reverse what the voter's approved in june. the pension reform. this is a big day for the people of san jose and beginning to restore services as we save money on all these pension reforms. >> measure e would allow casinos to add card tables. that was defeated. a majority of voters said no. around 40% said yes. you did have a neutral stance. but personally, you did vote for it. your argument being, it would add tax revenue. opponents saying it's going to add too much crime. what's your response? >> we could use additional revenues.

and the update on the investigation there to the case. >> reporter: yeah. i checked in with the san jose police department spokesperson for the update on this case. they are still search for a second suspect or at least that's what was happening all this week as they released a sketch on that expect now hee mailed me back and said per the homicide unit we aren't confirming or denying any new information. that came after i asked them if an arrest had been made. >> the man was shot and killed last week. one of the suspects a 26-year- old was in court wednesday. police say he and another man robbed four businesses, murdered a 22-year-old in a carjacking and participated in a shoot out with two officers one of the officers was hit and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. willbanks was arrested the next morning. officers released a sketch of the second suspect, a 20,000- dollar reward is being offered for his arrest. the funeral for the victim is being held this morning at 11. we will continue to talk to police and ask them about updates on that second suspect and bring you new information on

oakland, 53 mountain view. san jose low 50s. you are warmer this morning. and most locations gilroy, though, 47 degrees. so the 24-hour temperature change, looking at numbers mainly three to six degrees warmer from our coast around the bay. but we do have that cooler air mass with those temperatures dropping into the upper 40s near napa and santa rosa. about a half-mile visibility toward novato. a mile and three quarters santa rosa and napa looking at four-mile visibility, as well. throughout the day today we will look for the warmer afternoon with the numbers coming up to more spring-like readings. mid-70s downtown today and possible record warmth tomorrow through election day with more 80s around the bay than 70s. san benito county, southern monterey could reach 90 degrees by tomorrow. the warming begins today as the high pressure builds in from the eastern pacific. it will stay that way for the next 48 hours. by wednesday, though, a big drop. a midweek cool-down with numbers dropping at much at ten to fifteen degrees. then the rain comes overnight wednesday into thursday. light s

, the breeze will pick up. san jose was 80. sfo at 78. some of the records but there are records again all the way out to stockton. so 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year. now we start to slide to near normal and then we'll see a dramatic drop as we go 10, 15 degrees below normal. it doesn't have a lot with it. but the lows are a lot closer than they were yesterday. yesterday, we had 40s to 60s. now it's upper 40s to low to mid-60s. most of the activities up stream and that's in the form of cold air. you can see the system coming out of a cold source. fog is back. watch out for reduced visibility. once a system goes through, that doesn't do much rainwise. that's what's -- that's what's coming in friday, late thursday into friday. you will notice a cold air. fog, sun, cooler. a westerly wind. say good poi to the easterly or westerly wind. good boy to the easterly or westerly wind. colder, showers move in. more cold. your weekend always in view, it looks better, but it will be very brisk in the morning. >> thank you, night news out of newark where firefighters are looking in

to break records there. a san jose could climb up to 83 degrees bridge and night record set in 1901. the full look at those numbers and when you need to pull out that umbrella coming up straight ahead. >> on the bay bridge is still a hot spot as you were to weigh in to san francisco. the start with a stall about an hour ago but the damage is done. the backup here has residual delays from the salt -- stall and is backed up to the 80 on 2580 westbound so give yourself extra time heading into center cisco. on the traffic that's he can see westbound 80 is crawling out of an old with the drive time from hercules the oakland is 34 minutes. it is still slow into the maze leading up to the bay bridge toll plaza so keep that in mind as you head into san francisco. traffic coming out of the north bay southbound 1 01 is crawling out of palo llama. there be a slow commute about 43 minutes from santa rosa and to nevada. by the time you reach the nevada side of one-on-one it picks up and moves well all the way up to the golden gate and than it is a good ride into san francisco. it is is crawling

redwood city to fremont and san jose this morning. a little bit of fog. otherwise we are just on our way to a rapid warmup today. possible records tomorrow and tuesday. then the bottom falls out after that. here comes the warming trend. it's high pressure that builds into the upper layer surface and the upper layers of the atmosphere. what that means is that flow turns slightly offshore. more of a northerly flow so the down sloping winds allowing for rapid warming today with some 80s possible. look it, it's a state-wide event with 84 in los angeles, 80 down by san diego and look at big sur, 80s on the coast. we are talking another five to seven degrees of warming tomorrow into tuesday. so that should take us about 15 to 20 degrees above normal by the time we hit election day. but i think tomorrow should be the warmest day of the work week. so average highs mid-60s here. talking 74 in san francisco, 677 oakland. san jose we have low 80s up toward the north in santa rosa, 80 for concord, livermore. half moon bay 68 and down by the monterey bay, santa cruz, 80 degrees today. 81 hollister. e
